Thanks for visiting!
My name is Sherry Abbasi. I'm an artist and educator you can find stuck in traffic somewhere between Fort Worth and Denton, TX. I received my BFA from the University of North Texas in Visual Art Studies in 2015 and have been a k-12 educator and museum educator for over 7 years now. I recently completed my MA in Art Education from the University of North Texas & am currently pursuing a PhD in Art Education. Through my PhD I will be conducting research with the goal of bridging a gap between Educational Leadership and Social Justice through the lens of Art Education. Additionally, I earned my Yoga Certification (200 hr) in Social Emotional & Trauma Informed Yoga in the Classroom in 2020.
I have a passion for art and inquire about it constantly. Learning is something I value the most and when I learn I want to pass that knowledge on to my students and peers. We can always better ourselves by trying to understand others. I try to teach my students that an open mind is the best kind and the best way to fail is to not try.
My art varies to many degrees. I like to try my hand at many things without thought on whether it's “good” or “bad”. I find inspiration in the science and nature around me. I also find that personal experience plays a big role whether I want it to or not.
So have a look around and let me know what you think!
